French Knots

How I make French knots:

french-knot-1

Pull the needle up through the top of the fabric.

french-knot-2

Wrap the tail of your thread around the needle 1, 2 or 3 times. I used 3 wraps for my block border and center of each daisy.

french-knot-3

Reinsert the needle back into the fabric close to, but not in the same hole as, the protruding thread.

french-knot-4

Hold the tail of the thread firm but not tight as you pull the needle through.

french-knot-5

Hold the bottom thread as the top thread goes through. (I let go of the thread so you could see what the process looked like.)

french-knot-6

Give a gentle tug and you are done.
